We’re an independent Australian blog about the LEGO hobby, written by people who own an amount of plastic bricks that would probably require some explaining if anyone ever conducted an intervention.
This is the editorial side of The Brick Box Australia, but we promise it isn’t a shop wearing a fake moustache and pretending to be a magazine.
We review sets, dig into LEGO history, test apps and tools, follow the interesting bits of news, and occasionally disappear down a rabbit hole that started with one innocent question and somehow ended three hours later with seventeen browser tabs open.
Mostly, we’re here because we love the hobby and enjoy talking about it.
And we’d quite like this to feel like a place you can pull up a chair and talk bricks with us.
What to expect from us
We have opinions.
Quite a few of them, actually.
If we love a set, we’ll tell you why. If we think something is overpriced, awkwardly designed, disappointing, or being praised slightly more enthusiastically than it deserves, we’ll tell you that too.
That doesn’t mean we think our opinion is the opinion. LEGO is wonderfully subjective. One person’s masterpiece is another person’s “why on earth did I spend $179.99 on this?”
What matters to us is being clear about what we’re actually telling you.
So throughout the blog, you’ll see us separate things into three categories:
- Fact: Something that’s on the record, sourced and checkable.
- Opinion: What we genuinely think, clearly presented as our view.
- Speculation: An educated guess, theory or hunch that may turn out to be spectacularly wrong.
We think that distinction matters.
You should be able to tell when we know something, when we think something, and when we’re standing in front of a corkboard covered in red string trying to work out what LEGO might announce next.
The Australian bit
We’re based in Australia, so that’s the perspective you’ll get here.
Prices are in the currency we actually pay. Availability reflects what Australian collectors can realistically find. Release dates, retailers, events and deals are looked at through an Australian lens whenever it makes sense.
There’ll be no forced “G’day, brick cobbers!” nonsense.
Just a genuinely local LEGO blog written by people who happen to live on this particular side of the planet.
And yes, we sell bricks too
Full transparency, The Brick Box Australia also sells LEGO sets, minifigures, parts and other assorted pieces of tiny plastic that are remarkably good at taking over entire rooms.

The blog and the store share a name, a hobby, and probably far too much shelf space, but editorially we treat them as separate things.
Nothing you read here is a sales pitch dressed up as an article.
If we recommend something, it’s because we genuinely think it’s worth recommending. If we don’t like something, we’re not going to suddenly develop selective amnesia because there happens to be one sitting in our inventory.
The whole point of this blog is to be useful, interesting and enjoyable to read.
Preferably with a few laughs along the way.
